Hello, my name is Luli Martinez and I am a CAPPA trained birth doula. I am also the happy and proud mother of two energetic boys. My education as a birth doula include a “Birthing From Within” training workshop which I attended in March, 2015. I have also attended and completed an introductory course into midwifery given by Elizabeth Davis, author of “Heart and Hands, A Midwife’s Guide to Pregnancy and Birth”. And, at the beginning of 2016 I decided to seek certification through CAPPA and completed the birth doula training through Terri Woods. I am currently working towards my CAPPA certification and hope to be certified early 2018.
As a birth doula I have two main goals in mind: Help parents make informed decisions that are true to their core individual beliefs, and, help parents create an optimal birthing environment that best reflects mother’s desires.
For me, this calling came at a very young age. I was in the labor room at the age of 14 helping aunts, cousins, friends, anyone who would invite me into this magical moment of their life. College life distanced me from the labor room for a few years, but it wasn’t long before the calling sucked me back in and has not let go ever since. My first son has been a huge blessing for many reasons, but one major reason has been that he brought me back into this wonderful, love-full, and at times very intense labor of love.
As a birth doula I hope to offer parents the reassurance and resources many parents seek during this very special transition into parenthood. I seek to get to know parents, and look deep within themselves as a mean to bring about what they need to come closer to their birthing desires and goals. There are no right or wrong answers. Parents will, with no doubt, seek out what they believe is best for their baby and their family. My job is to support you physically, emotionally, and with evidence-based educational resources. If you are looking for reliable resources, I will be there to help you along your journey. If you need me to apply pressure to your back throughout labor, I will be there for you. If you need me to hold your hand and talk you through a contraction, I will be right next to you supporting you. If you need me to help you shift positions while on an epidural, I will be there. Be whatever it may be, I will be there to support you.
I look forward to speaking with you and getting to know you more. If you would like to set up a time for an interview, please give me a call. I would be happy to sit down and chat over tea! Cheers!
